Oh you know all about erasing history, don't you? It was your followers who slaughtered my people, and stole our land. And you? You did nothing but grow fat on their worship.

–Whiskey Jack to Wednesday, "A Winter's Tale"

Wisakedjak is the Crane Manitou found in northern Algonquian and Dene storytelling.

Significance[]

"House on the Rock (episode)"[]

At the House on the Rock, Wednesday asks Mr. Nancy if some of the old gods like Whiskey Jack have arrived. Nancy replies that they did not come.

"A Winter's Tale"[]

Wednesday takes Shadow to the Spirit Lake Nation of the Lakota Sioux in North Dakota with the hopes of enlisting Wisakedjak in his war against the New Gods. Wisakedjak tells Shadow that he has a destiny he must fulfil "or everything will come to an end" and points him towards the Orisha for guidance. Wednesday then appears and attempts to gain the support of Wisakedjak in the war, saying that "the so called New Gods will not stop, until the memory of all the old ways has been swept away". Wisakedjak chastises Wednesday for his hypocrisy, reminding Wednesday that it was his worshippers who murdered Native Americans in their raids and stole their land. He firmly rejects Wednesday's offer, telling him to "go piss up a rope, I ain't gonna help you", after which point Shadow ushers Wednesday away and the two leave.
