Shadow Moon is the central protagonist of American Gods. It’s through him that we’re introduced to this weird and wonderful world of Gods, but what do we really know about him? For all he’s the main character, his true purpose has been confined to the shadows. There’s definitely more than meets the eye with him. Mr. Wednesday is Odin, so there must be something very special about him for the all-father to go to such lengths to recruit him to his side. The dreams Shadow has of the flame-eyed bison further suggest something deeper, as does his ability to think snow into existence in the third episode. These aren’t the actions of a plain ol’ human being. Is Shadow actually a God without realizing it? Is he maybe a demigod, or the offspring of a God and a human? Or is he something else entirely?
The interlude 2 chapter is the one Marguerite Olsen (Shadow's neighbour in Lakeside) calls her sister Sam and tells her that Alison McGovern has gone missing last week and that she's got a new neighbour.
However, I don't get why she says it's been only a week since Alison's disappearece because on chapter twelve, the one Shadow meets with goes "behind the curtains" with Wednesday and they stay gone for over a month.
Can anyone explain this to me? Am I looking too much into it or is this something that's going to be important later?
If it's the second option, as this is my first read, please just answer "KEEP READING" and I'll do so.
Thanks guys.
Btw, I'm not sure if I used the correct terms as I'm reading in portuguese version and the translation may vary. This is also Gaiman's prefered edition.
